During these past few weeks I have been extra quiet on here and on social media because some big news has developed and it’s been a whirlwind ever since.
Before I took off for Denver to see my favorite band The Head and the Heart play at Red Rocks a couple of weeks ago, Evan gave me some amazing news about a huge job promotion he received. The only catch is the new position is in … CALIFORNIA!
At first I was pretty shocked — my flight for Denver was leaving in two hours and I was already stressed about the logistics for our current move within the city. Adding the thought of moving again, but this time across the country, was a lot to digest. After I got over the initial surprise and spent a 4.5 hour flight to Colorado thinking about the news, I felt really good about it. I’ve only been to California once but I instantly fell in love and I was begging Evan to move there ASAP (funny how things work, huh?).
When I got back into the city we talked about it more and we decided if we’re going to try this out, now is the time. We are still young and the positive support we got from the people closest to us was even more encouraging. After clearing with my bosses that I could continue my position at People in our L.A. office, we made it official. We are moving to Cali!
For now, we went through with the move we already had planned because we had signed a lease and the ball was rolling. So right now we live in Hoboken in an apartment that I already know I’m going to miss (have you seen the kitchen on my Instagram?!). But I’m so happy we got “leg one” done of what is going to be quite the journey.
We will be flying out to L.A. in a couple of weeks to look at some places and then we will be heading out there in about a month or so to stay permanently.
I’ll keep everyone posted on how things go throughout the process as I’m sure moving across the country will come with a whole lot of stories. In the meantime, I will be eating all of the bagels and pizza in New York City and soaking up every last ounce of this amazing city. Oh, and figuring out where I put my driver’s license. Beep beep!
